Game Rules

1000 Puffs is simple and fun: be the first to reach 1000 points by playing Puffs cards. But watch out — you need a Rolling Paper to get started, and your opponents won't make it easy.

Game Objective

Be the first player to reach 1000 points by playing Puffs cards. To score, you must have a Rolling Paper placed in front of you and not be blocked by an attack. Manage your resources, counter opponent attacks, and strategically use your defenses and jokers to dominate.

Fundamental rule

The Rolling Paper

To play Puffs cards, you must first place a Rolling Paper in front of you.

Until you have a Rolling Paper on the table, you can't score. Once placed, it stays... unless an opponent hits you with a Paper Shortage!

Paper Shortage

Removes your Rolling Paper. You need to play a new one to resume.

The Unleafable

Permanent immunity: your Rolling Paper can never be removed again.

Card Types

Puffs Cards

Your scoring cards. Values: 25, 50, 75, 100 or 200 points. You can only play them if you have a Rolling Paper placed in front of you and you're not blocked.

Attack Cards

Block an opponent to prevent them from playing Puffs. 5 types: Police Check, Bad Trip, Bad Harvest, Paper Shortage (removes the Rolling Paper!), Munchies.

🛡

Defense Cards

Counter a specific attack to unblock yourself. 5 types: Corruption, Water Bottle, Rolling Paper (mandatory to play!), Fertile Fertilizer, Pornfood.

Jokers

Permanent immunity against one attack type. Unique and overpowered. The Uncatchable, The Unshakeable, The Inexhaustible, The Unleafable, The Bottomless.

Turn Structure

Each turn, draw 1 card then choose 1 action: play a Puffs card (if Rolling Paper placed and not blocked), play an Attack on an opponent, play a Defense to unblock yourself, place a Joker, or discard cards.

Attack Cards

Attack cards block an opponent — they can't play Puffs anymore. Each attack has a specific defense: Corruption counters Police Check, Water Bottle counters Bad Trip, Fertile Fertilizer counters Bad Harvest, Rolling Paper counters Paper Shortage, Pornfood counters Munchies.

Defense Cards

Each defense only counters one specific attack. The Rolling Paper has a dual role: it's mandatory to play Puffs AND serves as the defense against the Paper Shortage attack.

Jokers — Permanent Immunity

Each joker grants permanent immunity against one attack type. Only one copy of each joker exists in the deck. The Unleafable is especially powerful: your Rolling Paper can never be removed again.

When You're Blocked

If you're blocked and don't have the right defense, you can discard up to 3 cards and draw the same number (your turn ends there). You can also play an Attack on another player even while blocked.

Example Game

Here are a few turns from a 4-player game to understand the gameplay:

1

Turn 1 — Alice

Alice draws 1 card. She has a Rolling Paper — she places it in front of her. Alice can now play Puffs.

2

Turn 2 — Bob

Bob draws 1 card. No Rolling Paper in hand. He discards a useless card and waits.

3

Turn 3 — Charlie

Charlie draws and places his Rolling Paper. He plays a standard turn.

4

Turn 5 — Alice

Alice draws and plays a 100 Puffs card. Score: 100 points.

5

Turn 7 — Charlie attacks!

Charlie plays Paper Shortage on Alice. Her Rolling Paper is removed — she can't score until she places a new one.

6

Turn 9 — Alice bounces back

Alice draws a Rolling Paper and places it. She's back in the race!

7

Turn 14 — Bob fights back

Bob is blocked by a Police Check. He plays Corruption to unblock. His Rolling Paper is still there — he can score next turn.

How to Win

The first player to reach or exceed 1000 points wins immediately. When the draw pile is empty, shuffle the discard pile to form a new draw pile.

Expert Mode / Challenges

Once you've mastered the basic rules, take on these challenges to spice up your games:

1

Speed Challenge

Timed game: 10 minutes maximum. The player with the most points wins.

2

Strategy Challenge

No more than 2 consecutive Puff cards allowed. Force yourself to vary your strategies.

3

Expert Challenge

Goal raised to 1500 points. Games are longer and more strategic.

4

Team Challenge

Play in teams of 2. Limited communication: one word per turn maximum.

Strategic Tips

1

Place your Rolling Paper ASAP — without it, you can't do anything

2

Always keep 1-2 Defense cards in reserve for emergencies

3

Timing is key: attack when your opponent is close to winning

4

Don't waste jokers early, save them for decisive moments

5

Paper Shortage is the nastiest attack — watch your Rolling Papers

6

When blocked, use the discard/draw mechanic to dig for your solution
